Online registration opens on January 24th.

Online registration closes on March 5th, please contact the conference secretariat by email to register after this date.

Please complete the following Registration, Abstract and Travel Grant sections in the same session.

If your session is interrupted you will have to start from the beginning. We recommend having your abstract prepared ahead of time, and cutting and pasting appropriate sections in. Please read all directions before completing.

When you have finished completing all information, go to Submission, you must click on OK to complete your submission. If the submission is successful, a Confirmation page will appear in your browser with some of the data you entered. If you reached the confirmation page, you have successfully registered for the conference and you will be contacted by Nadirex shortly.

Please complete the online registration below by March 5th. Registration includes coffee breaks, lunches, transportation from and to the airport using the Conference shuttle (no taxi reimbursement allowed unless for specific requirement and preapproved), conference kit and abstract book. Dinners are not included. The registration fee of 350 Euros should be paid to Nadirex by March 12th. Abstract Submissions

The deadline for abstract submission is March 4, 2007. Notifications of acceptance and format of presentation (oral or poster presentation) will be sent out on March 11, 2007. Upon notification of acceptance of abstract, the presenting author must register for the Symposium by March 18, 2007. Failure to register before the deadline may result in the loss of acceptance in the Symposium. Guidelines for preparing your oral or poster presentations will be sent upon acceptance of the abstract.

ABSTRACT GUIDELINES

Format The body of the uploaded abstract submission should not exceed 350 words; title, authors and affiliations are excluded. If English is not your primary language, attempt to have your abstract reviewed by a native English speaker.

- Abstract are required be divided into the following sections: background/objectives, methods, results, conclusions.

- Clearly define all concepts and abbreviations at first use.

- Generic (not trade) names for drugs should be used.

- Italicize scientific names of organisms (example: Staphylococcus aureus).

- Figures, tables or references are not allowed.

We recommend the authors follow the following guidelines:

Title

Use a short and concise title that indicates the content of the abstract. Capitalize the first letter of each word except prepositions, articles, and species names.

Authors

Authors' names should be entered using initial(s) for the first and middle names followed by the full last name. Please denote the presenting author with an asterisk.* Please follow the name with a number for the affiliation (e.g., AB Smith*1, CD Rossi 2).

Affiliations

All author affiliations should be entered as follows:

1. University of Goteborg, Goteborg, Sweden; 2. St.Mary Hospital, Rome, Italy, etc...

Background/Objectives

State clearly the problem under investigation or a hypothesis.

Methods

Explain the experimental methods used.

Results

List the essential results obtained in summary form, with enough quantitative data to permit evaluation.

Conclusion

Summarize the findings. Statements such as "the results will be discussed" are not acceptable.

ABSTRACT EVALUATION AND SCORING

The Organizing Committee and 5 members of the Scientific Committee will review all the submitted abstracts. In the revision process the quality and originality of the work will be evaluated and a numerical score assigned. Scores for each abstract are averaged and the standard deviation is calculated to assess variability. Abstracts with high variability in scores are discussed individually. All reviewers are instructed to abstain from scoring any abstract on which they are an author/co-author, may have a conflict of interest, or do not have the appropriate expertise.

PUBLISHED ABSTRACT BOOK

Accepted abstracts will be standardized in font and presentation. Any scientific error that appears in the submitted abstract will appear in the printed abstract.

Travel Grants

Researchers and clinicians actively working in the field who experience difficulties in attending the conference because of financial reasons are invited to submit an application for a supplement travel grant. This will provide partial support for the meeting expenses (travel, lodging and meals) up to 2500 Euros. Priority will be given to the presenting authors of accepted abstracts.

Applicants will be notified on March 11, 2007 as to whether or not their application for travel grant supplement has been accepted. Please note that the Organizing Committee decisions are final.
